Church Organisations

Sunday Schools

Sunday Schools are on during Sunday Services.

As part of the Trinity there are 3 Sunday Schools – one in the Lethame Road building, Strathaven, one in Chapelton and one in Glassford.

We share planning ideas and are beginning to organise events at key times in the calendar where all 3 Sunday Schools can join together.

Activities are planned on termly basis, with a theme chosen and a variety of different types of activities planned.  There are 6 leaders who share the planning and preparation of activities.  The children showcase their learning throughout the year – with special family services or activity days organised at key times in the church calendar.  This is usually at Harvest, Christmas, Easter and Summer.  We have Christmas parties/events for all children and have a prize giving service on the last Sunday before breaking up for the summer holiday.

The Men’s Group meets in the Rankin Room (upstairs in the hall on a Wednesday morning between 10.30am until 12.00pm for Coffee/Tea biscuits and a chat. Come and go for part or all of the time, as suits you.

Trinity - Ladies Keep Fit

Keep fit class meets on Monday nights from 7:00pm-8:00pm in Strathaven Church. This is not a high impact class and the emphasis is on maintaining fitness.

We do some aerobic exercise in the form of Scottish Country dancing; some exercises working from neck n shoulders down to ankle joints and finish off relaxing to a nice piece of music.

For more information, contact Cillia McCleary at cilmccleary@yahoo.co.uk.

Trinity - Bigger Picture

The Bigger Picture is held on Monday and Friday lunchtimes for young folk from the Academy. They come for lunch of cheese toasties; hot chocolate; juice and biscuits (can you think of anything more exciting!)  While eating, the youngsters watch a short film.

There is a small fee for the toasties but the rest is free. This is not a money-making activity, more a safe place to spend some time and an introduction to the Church.

Toddler Groups

Toddler Group is held on the following days:

  • Strathaven Church – Mondays from 10:00am-11:30am
  • Chapelton Church – Thursdays from 10:00am-11:30am.

Trinity - Kids Klub

Trinity Kids Klub continues to be popular with the younger members of the Lethame Road Congregation. We meet when the Sunday School is on holiday and the children enjoy crafts and games in the large hall or, weather permitting, we visit the park.

Although I have a reasonable pool of volunteers to call upon for help, new helpers would be made most welcome, even for just one or two Sundays per year.  Because of the time scale necessary to undergo Child Protection procedures, now is a good time to see me about volunteering!

A big “Thank You” must be extended to all the willing helpers who join in with the fun and games and I look forward to their continuing support.

Trinity - Fairtrade Stall

A Fairtrade stall in a church is a powerful way for the congregation to support sustainable and ethical practices. Our stall offers products that are certified Fairtrade, meaning they have been produced with fair labor practices and without harm to the environment.

Our Fairtrade stall sells a variety of products such as coffee, tea, and chocolate, all of which have been produced with a commitment to social and environmental justice. By purchasing from a Fairtrade stall in a church, congregants can feel good knowing that their purchase is making a positive impact on the world and supporting the values of their faith community.

Trinity - Knitters

Trinity Knitters is a great opportunity for people to give back to the community as well, as they often create items to donate to those in need, such as blankets, hats, and scarves. The club is a true reflection of the values of the church, as it promotes community, creativity, and service to others.

The club is a wonderful way for people to come together and engage in a relaxing and productive hobby while building connections with one another.

Trinity - Badminton

Badminton club is held at Strathaven Church on Wednesdays from 7:30pm-9:00pm.

Trinity - Messy Church

Messy Church is the 2nd Sunday of each month from 3:00pm-4:30pm.

Strathaven Trinity - Boys Brigade

Boys Brigade is held on Thursdays from 5:00pm-9:30pm at Strathaven Church.

Anchors – p1 – p3 – from 6.00 – 7.00 pm

Juniors – p4 – p6 – from 7.00 – 8.00 pm

The Company – p7 – S2 – from 7.30 – 9.30 pm

Seniors – S3 – S6 – from 7.30 – 9.30 pm

We are based in the large hall at Trinity Church, Lethame Road, Strathaven

We have had a very busy four months since the start of the session in September. We have 41 boys regularly attending, 12 in the Anchor Boys (P1 to P3), 13 in the Juniors (P4 to P6) and 16 in the Company Section (P7 upwards). This an increase on last year making us the strongest Company in terms of numbers in the Hamilton & District Battalion. The really pleasing aspect about our numbers is that we didn’t lose any boys and gained new boys in all sections.

The Junior Section won the Battalion Table Games competition and we had boys at the 140th sleepover in the Glasgow Science Centre where special thanks should go to the officers and parent who spent a cold November night on the floor.

The Company Section retained the Battalion Ten Pin Bowling Competition, where we won the team event along with two out of three of the individual events. So far, in National Competitions we progressed to round two of the Mastermind Competition, we had hosted six companies in round one but lost out in round two to Companies from Dunblane and Kilmarnnock. One of our FIFA (computer game) teams progressed to round two beating 79th Glasgow before losing to 2nd East Kilbride. The other lost out to 2nd Hamilton. One of our badminton teams lost to 128th Glasgow but our second team have beaten 79th Glasgow and 7th Wishaw so are now into the third round in January. Our ‘5 a sides’ football team lost out in their competition to 1st Renfrew and 1st Overtown but did well considering it was the first time competing in this event for a number of years.

We had a good number of boys from all three sections at the 140th anniversary church parade at Bothwell Parish Church in October, just a pity that the weather and the church heating didn’t match the occasion. For the first time the Remembrance Parade to the war memorial and church service was opened up to all three sections rather than just the Company Section boys.

In our last meeting of 2023 we had a visit from Toby’s Exotic Pets where we got to see and handle some snakes, spiders and Lizards
