The Strathaven Memory Club usually meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month, in the large hall of Trinity Parish Church, Lethame Road, Strathaven from 1.30pm – 3.15pm.
The April dates for the meetings are Wednesday 9th April when the Ukelele Sisters return to entertain us. They are always  liked and provide well known songs and some laughs! On Wednesday 23 April we are trying something new. Elizabeth Kennedy is going to help try our hands at clay modelling. Anyone who does not fancy this will have other activities to try. Both meetings at the usual time of 1.30 till 3.15 in the large hall.
Heart for Art Project

The Memory Club are delighted to be able to begin working alongside Crossreach to offer this new painting project as an additional 2 afternoons each month, for people living with dementia. No experience of painting is required and participants can enjoy a sense of achievement in producing a painting and hopefully their carers can have a little respite and everyone can enjoy some social interaction and support over a cup of tea or coffee. The project can only cope with 12 participants and their carers and already we have 12 eager to get started painting.  However, if this is something you feel you might enjoy we intend to hold a waiting list so that if places are not filled we can get in contact with you.  Please contact Lynda Horn on 07778579504

Heart for Art
Following a successful first meeting when we had 7 participants who produced some lovely paintings some of which are shown here, our April meetings are on Wed 2nd and 16th April at 1.00pm till 3.00pm  We can take a few more participants so if you are living with dementia and would like to try something different please contact Lynda Horn on 07778579504. The meetings also provide some respite fot carers as well as support.

MORE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Both groups could benefit from a few extra volunteers especially people willing to collect a member who is unable to come or be brought by a carer. Even if you are only able to come to one of the groups and only regularly to  one meeting it would still be a help. Please contact Lynda Horn for more information.

New members are always welcome.

Some pictures of the activity which those attending the memory club enjoyed. The plan is for the carers to go to the small hall for tea and chat. Heart for Art will be held on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month.
