The Strathaven Memory Club usually meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month, in the large hall of Trinity Parish Church, Lethame Road, Strathaven from 1.30pm – 3.15p.m.
The Memory Club continues on Wednesdays
On Wednesday 12 February we had a taster session to let people know about our new project which begins on 19 March. We are delighted to have received funding from the National Lottery Community Fund to offer folk with dementia another 2 afternoons per month for a Heart for Art group. This initiative is run by Crossreach and the service offers people with dementia the opportunity to paint using canvas or silks. People do not need to have any experience of painting and it is hoped through painting people can begin to experience a sense of achievement and greater self-worth. Heart for Art meetings will run on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays each month.
Some pictures of the activity which those attending the memory club enjoyed today. The plan is for the carers to go to the small hall for tea and chat. Heart for Art will be held on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month.
On the 26th February we will have our AGM at 1.30 pm and thereafter the Singing Birdies are returning to entertain us. If any family member who does not usually accompany their loved one to the club would like to come and hear what we have done and plan to do at the AGM they will be made most welcome.
Why not come along and join us, all are most welcome. For more information please contact Lynda Horn on 07778579504.
